Gentic Factors

Fetal- Virus infections do appear to increase the odds that a child will develop psychological disorders. The nearly 1-100 odds of any persons being diagnosed with these disorders become 1 in 10 among those whose sibling or parent has the disorder and 1 to 2 if affected sibling is an identical twin

Psychological Factors

If parental viruses and genetic predispositions do not by themselves cause psychological disorders neither do family or social factors alone. No environmental causes have been discovered that will invariably or even with moderate probability will produce these disorders. But the list below shows possible psychological factors that may lead to these disorders.

  • Birth complications involving oxygen deprivation and low birth weight
  • Separation from parents
  • Short attention span and poor muscle coordination
  • Disruptive or withdrawn behavior
  • Emotional unpredictability
  • Poor peer relations and solo play
Not necessarily claiming that these factors directly correlate with psychological disorders but psychologists have linked the suggested list to affected patients.
